Ladies' Stand-Up Class w/ Kelly Collette

Gain the tools to get started in the world of stand-up comedy with a seasoned professional in this intro-level class. Instructor Kelly Collette regularly performs all over the country as a full-time comic, and now she is generously sharing her expertise with Alphas Comedy College.
Students will learn to access and mine their own lives for their full comedic potential as they actively practice joke writing & delivery, building a stand-up set, & rehearsing and enhancing their set delivery. You'll learn and use the history and language of stand-up to help you on your journey to find your own individual comedy style.
This all-female identifying class concludes with a public class show, as each student will deliver a 5-minute set at Know Theatre (in OTR in downtown Cincinnati). Show is hosted by instructor Kelly Collette.
Class will include weekly homework assignments. Students should bring a notebook and writing utensils. Enrollment is limited to 15 students.
Class meeting dates are: Tuesdays July 9, 16, 23, 30 (6:30pm-9:00pm) at Hoffner Lodge in Northside in Cincinnati, Ohio. Class show is Tuesday, August 6th at Know Theatre of Cincinnati in OTR.
This class is presented by Alphas Comedy, as part of their women's education initiative, Alphas Comedy College.
About the Instructor:
Kelly is a standup comedian and writer who began her career in Cincinnati, Ohio. She now works the road full time, performing in clubs, theaters, and independent rooms. She has been featured on Sirius XM, NPR, and Pandora. Her comedy special, I Made You This, produced by DryBar Comedy, has amassed over 3 million views in clips. She was a finalist on CMT’s Next Big Comic and toured with “The Nobodies of Comedy”, a rotating cast of comedians hand selected as the best unknown talent in the country. Kelly was named Cincinnati Citybeat’s Best Comedian in 2020. In 2022, she was an Artist In Residence at Acadia National Park- the first standup comedian in the National Parks history. Alphas is an all-female identifying Cincinnati, Ohio based sketch and improv comedy group who has been writing, performing, and improvising shows together since April 2022.
