If you are ready to get some of your comedic ideas onto the page and jump into writing sketch comedy with supportive guidance, this class is for you! This class will introduce you to the basics of sketch writing, while empowering you to embrace and express your own individual brand of comedy.
Class includes five sessions and will culminate in a one-night public staged-reading of one of your sketches. Writers will NOT have to read their own sketches, but are encouraged to do so if it is something they will enjoy!
Enrollment is limited to 10 people and is open to all female-identifying students, aged 18+. No previous writing or comedy experience necessary.
This class is a hybrid course which is 50% online with Claire McFadden from Chicago instructing, and 50% in person with Alphas Artistic Director Patricia Mullins. The stage reading is in-person at the Clifton Comedy Theatre.
For all classes, students should bring writing utensils and notebooks and/or an electronic device.
