If you are ready to get some of your comedic ideas onto the page and jump into writing sketch comedy with supportive guidance, this class is for you! This class will introduce you to the basics of sketch writing, while empowering you to embrace and express your own individual brand of comedy.

Class includes five sessions and will culminate in a one-night public staged-reading of one of your sketches on Monday, June 2. Writers will NOT have to read their own sketches, but are encouraged to do so if it is something they will enjoy!

Enrollment is limited to 10 people and is open to all female-identifying students, aged 18+. No previous writing or comedy experience necessary.

For all classes, students should bring writing utensils and notebooks and/or an electronic device. There is no class on Memorial Day.

About the Instructor:
Mary O’Connell has been an improviser/comedy writer/performer in Cincinnati for 10 years. She completed sketch writing and improv training at Second City Chicago and has written/directed numerous shows at Alphas Comedy and Improv Cincinnati. 

Mary loves collaborating with fellow comedians and helping people develop creative scripts, live shows, and video shorts. 

About Alphas Comedy:
Alphas is an all-female identifying Cincinnati-based sketch and improv comedy group who have been writing, performing, and improvising shows together since April 2022.  Their show "Alphas: Origin Story" was presented as a special event at Cincy Fringe, 2024.
